States of Being

πάντα ῥεῖ (panta rhei) "everything flows”

Human perception is guided by the mechanism of attending to different aspects of our surroundings and categorizing them for understanding. This innate process rejects the reality that we are in a constant state of motion. In the way that a camera captures a fraction of a second, our brains interpret different aspects of existence as separate conditions that make the human experience. We compartmentalize thoughts, feelings and experiences to give the illusion of stillness and order.

We have never existed in this way, but choose to interpret ourselves as such to satisfy the need for importance and meaning in our lives. Take a moment to reflect upon the fluid nature of our experience, to enter a mental space where there are no walls and the edges of our awareness can expand beyond physical limitations. We are never just a being operating within a body or existing in one location at a single point in time.

Even in times of absolute stillness, we are moving.
